Charmed forever

That's what Faiz thinks of his recently reinstated blog. At the age of 23, he believes that writing is the most efficient way to express the feelings crammed inside one's heart. After the fall of his blog dominion recently, he stoutly gets up on his feet, casting a powerful spell onto his blog and here it is, a charmed blog, reincarnated from the past, brought to the present and forever lasts in the future.

Being a final year medical student himself, he can never deny the frenzied life he's currently living on but life goes on and that's it. Apart from his hectic life, he always finds the time to go on with his hobbies, netsurfing and chatting being the most prominent ones. He also enjoys hanging out with his friends, for he knows that no one can tear the beautiful friendship apart.

He can always be contacted via email hata05@yahoo.co.uk or thru his new mobile number +962776052892

Infertility

A male taxi driver this afternoon asked me about semen analysis. I was on my way back to Irbid after sorting my ONG final mark out (it was posted on the board) when he asked me some medical questions. Well, he naturally knew about me being a medical student after looking at my tag and notes (was carrying handful notes of radiology) and he handed a piece of semen analysis result to me and asked me to interpret the findings. Well,I looked through the piece of paper and said nothing for approximately a minute. In spite of everything, I am not too interested in this topic and. recalling the data was not that easy. His test result came out to be normal. Well a normal semen analysis, as I can remember, is characterized by this WHO-approved features

1) The semen volume should be more than 2 ml

2) Sperm concentration ranges between 20-250 M/ml

3) The total sperm count should surpass 80M/ejaculation

4) The vitality of the sperms ( % alive) should be more than 75 percent

plus many other semen characteristics (pH, WBC, immunobead etc) and sperm morphology ( head, neck, tail defect)

Well, I didnt provide him with additional information since I am not a specialist, ayte?.

The widespread misunderstanding here, in our society is that women are the sole cause of infertility. This is absolutely ridiculous as men contribute for at least 40 percent of infertility in infertile couples. Believe it or not (matila feeling ripleys believe it or not). Tubal, ovulation, hormonal, uterine defects and are all the female factors that contribute to infertility while male factors include the semen itself, impotence and ejaculation failure.

Environmental condition may adversely affect the fertility and some of the people out there are not too concerned about these bits and pieces. So below, are my suggestions and take some times to ponder.

1) Do not smoke! Smoking lowers the sperm count up to 17 percent and there will be some sort of mutagenic changes in the sperm morphology. As a result, there is a bigger risk of miscarriages.

2) Dont have long soaks in hot bath tub or sauna since it impairs the sperm production. Well, it will be restored, in 4-5 months later.

3) Try to reduce your weight especially in female since it is counter productive to conception

4) Try to soothe down your emotions. Dont get too stressed.

5) Pesticides. Try to avoid chemical substances as they will cause infertility (especially in males.

There are many more but I can only think of these at the moment. Any other suggestions? BTW these are the modifiable factors ( which means that we can modify em) and do take the points into considerations. Prevention is always better than cure rite?
